Job Summary

The IT Department at Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time, 12 month Help Desk Support Specialist. This position assists in the day-to-day operation and administration of IT Help Desk. This position shares the first level of response (by telephone, e-mail, or walk-in), solving many technical issues immediately, while referring more extensive requests onto IT specialists. This position requires wide-ranging knowledge and experience to diagnose problems across a broad range of hardware and software, including the latest Apple and Windows operating systems, Apple and Windows computers, productivity suites such as Microsoft Office, and mobile devices. This position is also responsible for the day-to-day management of student employees assigned to the Help Desk.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma required. One year related information technology experience is also required. Proven ability to provide technical support/technical aptitude; interpersonal communications skills; time management and organizational skills; and the ability to quickly adapt and change priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred, along with Help Desk experience supporting both Microsoft Windows and Apple products in a higher education setting is preferred.
